Mary Anna Dickinson - Lawton Site Director Originally from Port Huron, Michigan, Mary Anna came to came to the Ann Arbor area for school; she also met her husband here. In 1996-97 Mary Anna taught in Kids Club at Burns Park and really enjoyed the program. She graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2001 with a degree in Elementary Education and received an elementary teaching certificate. After graduation, Mary Anna taught in the Ypsilanti Public Schools until she received a phone call from CDC inviting her to return. Mary Anna came back to CDC in the spring of 2003 to work in the preschool program, and by that fall had been named director of school-age programs at Lawton Elementary. A new mother, Mary Anna loves to play with her son; in what remains of her spare time, she enjoys gardening.

Sandra Swan - Burns Park Site Director Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Sandra came to the Ann Arbor area for school. She attended college at Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She met her husband at Eastern and stayed in this area. Sandra was an elementary school teacher for two years and a middle school teacher for a year before coming to CDC. Sandra became the director at Burns Park in 2006. Recently, Sandra had a son, Colton, who she enjoys playing and interacting with. In her spare time she enjoys running, reading and shopping.

Kids' Club staff

Most of the staff at our school-age child care programs are college students at either Eastern Michigan University or the University of Michigan and are studying education or a related field. We have three training days at the beginning of each school year, and continue to offer training throughout the year. All staff are also certified in CPR and first aid. There is also an experienced and highly qualified administrator on site every afternoon.
