We believe that children learn through their play.
Children should be allowed to explore their environment in a way that is meaningful to them. Children learn best in a rich, challenging atmosphere that balances teacher-directed experiences with child-initiated experiences. Our aim is to provide a warm and nurturing environment that allows for the exercise of creativity, imagination and independence. We are sensitive to each child's developmental needs, and we strive to create an atmosphere that encourages self confidence and a positive self-image.

The keystone of our programs is our preschool, founded in 1972 as a cooperative by families in the Burns Park community. In addition to the preschool center, our commitment to children and our philosophy extends to CDC-operated programs at several local elementary schools: Community School Age Child Care at Lawton and Burns Park Elementary Schools; Kindergarten-care at Burns Park Elementary School; and Community Day Camp at Allen Elementary School.
